Rationalisation of Port tariff:

 

For promotion of traffic through Kolkata Port, port charges on different commodities have been reduced / rationalised from time to time. To give a further boost to the rationalisation process, as per the long standing demand of the trade, Kolkata Port Trust Board has approved further concessional measures over a wide range of commodities with effect from 30.6.200 e.g:

 

 At KDS

·                         For containerised mica and mica products, maize, rice bran, tinplate, soda ash  tariff has been reduced  from the existing Rs.4500/- at CPY and Rs.3500 at non-CPY to Rs.2300/- and Rs.2000/- per TEU respectively.

·                         For break bulk commodities the concession has been granted as under:

 

   i)      Charges reduced from Rs.130/- to Rs.78/- per tonne in respect      of sugar and maize;

ii)                 Rate has been reduced from Rs.150/- to Rs.110/- for log (for the incremental quantity over and above annual handling of 35,000 tonnes per importer);

iii)               For pulses the reduction is from Rs.130/- to 110/- for incremental tonnage over and above annual handling of 50,000 tons per importer.

 

·                         Attractive demurrage package has also been offered for storage of log at port stacking yard.  For the first 7 days (from the last landing date) there is  no demurrage.  For the next 7 days, Rs.6/- per tonne per day. For next 7 days, Rs.12/- per tonne per day.  Thereafter, Rs.18/- per tonne per day.

·                         The Board of Trustees has also allowed CPY rate on containers being handled at non-CPY berths by port equipment support system.  

 

At HDC

·                         The wharfage charges for naptha, benzene, butene etc. have been reduced from Rs.110/- to Rs.85/- per tonne.
