CURRENT AND FUTURE PLAN
10th Plan :
In the 10th plan around Rs.768 crores has been proposed for various plan schemes to be undertaken at Kolkata Port, the details of which are highlighted below. This would be funded through Internal Resources, Grant-in-Aid etc.

The 10th Five Year Plan embraces, among others, the following works deemed important for the development of the port.
Haldia Dock Complex :
1. Procurement of Two Ship-Shore Gantry Cranes for container handling at a cost of Rs.28.50 Crores each.
2. Development of Road infrastructure including drainage etc. inside and outside the dock at a sanctioned cost of Rs.30.00 Crores.
3. Procurement of 4 RTG Cranes at a sanctioned cost of Rs.36.24 Crores.
4. Improvement of back-up area with railway connectivity inside the dock at a cost of Rs.30.00 Crores.
5. Construction of a Barge Handling Jetty at a cost of Rs.10.00 Crores.
6. Development of 2nd Dock Arm [1st phase] at an indicative cost of Rs.95.00 Crores.
7. Construction of Berth No.2 (South end of Berth No.3) at a cost of Rs.25.00 Crores.
8. Procurement of 2 Nos. Stacker cum Reclaimer for coal handling at a cost of Rs.10.00 Crores
Kolkata Dock System :
1. Construction of mooring berth at Saugor Anchorage at a sanctioned cost of Rs. 8.30 Crores.
2. Construction of Pilotage facilities at a cost involment Rs. 12 Crores.
3. Modernisation / upgradation of VTMS at a sanctioned cost of Rs. 7.20 Crores.
4. Modernisation / replacement of port craft at an indicative cost of Rs. 90.00 Crores through grant from Government.
5. Replacement / refurbishment / acquisition of various cargo handling equipment at an indicative cost of Rs. 25.00 Crores through grant from Government.
River Regulatory Works :
A scheme for River Regulatory measures for improvement of draft in Hooghly Estuary at a cost involvement of Rs.350.84 crores is expected to be taken up in the 10th Plan. The detailed cost components of the scheme are being recast in terms of recommendations forwarded by an institue of national repute.
