Notice for Barge Owners and Operators

All owners and operators of barges registered under MS Act, intending to operate their barges in Kolkata Port are requested to note the following-

  1. Only self-propelled barges having proper pilot boarding facilities will be acceptable;
  2. The speed of the barges in fully laden condition shall not be less than 7 knots for Haldia and 8 knots for Kolkata;
  3. The barges must have two serviceable power operated anchors with at least five shackles of anchor chains on either side;
  4. The barges must have valid P&I club insurance against comprehensive wreck removal and third party liabilities.
